How to get to Sagrada Família by public transportation

One of the most comfortable and fastest options is public transportation. Barcelona is a very well-connected city where public transportation networks cover almost every corner of the city.

If you come from far away, take a chance on public transportation and get to know how other people travel on their day-to-day. Do you already know which is the best combination for you? Read on to find out.

1. How to get to Sagrada Família by metro

If you plan to go to Sagrada Família by metro, the lines you should take are L2 (purple) or L5 (blue). These two metro lines will be your best allies to reach your destination without worries.

Both L2 and L5 stop at Sagrada Família station, this is where you have to get off! Both will leave you at the feet of Antonio Gaudí‘s monument. Although each exit has its own little charm. Find out which one best suits your situation.

The station has four exits that are located very close to the Basilica; some are even on the very corner of the temple! That allows you to have a privileged view of one of the most important works in the world as soon as you peek your head out onto the street.

L2: Provença/Avinguda Gaudí Exit

The preferred exit for all tourists. It will take you right around the corner from the Sagrada Família and will allow you to marvel at the Nativity Façade and the Mother of God Tower. The exterior of the expiatory Basilica will impress you, but if you really want to live a religious experience, you can’t miss the interior.

In addition, this metro station is the closest to our meeting point. Take a walk along Avinguda Gaudí and enjoy the Sagrada Família with a privileged view. Enjoy our exclusive 10% discount at the Kurz&Gut bar-restaurant by showing your voucher while admiring a World Heritage Site.

L2: Mallorca-Marina Exit
For Instagram-worthy views of the Sagrada Família, your exit is Mallorca-Marina.

Many different feelings will take hold of you. Surely the most recurrent are surprise, amazement and admiration. It is no surprise that the Sagrada Famílis is at fault. If you have a little time for yourself, take the opportunity to walk around the Plaça de Gaudí. Enjoy nature with this garden that has a small lake where many  go to relax and admire the temple.

L5: Plaça de la Sagrada Família

See the Sagrada Família from a different point of view. Starting from the back of the temple you can savor the monument to the fullest. You have the opportunity to go around the Basilica as you stroll through the beautiful surroundings and head to the main entrance.

L5: Sardenya

It is the most distant of the four exits. Sardenya is ideal for people who prefer peace and quiet rather than going straight into a very busy area. If this is your choice, keep a close eye on your surroundings and your meeting point, as you are likely to encounter a large crowd of people trying to get to your destination.

In case of doubt, we recommend that you consult the official website of Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona. There you can find all kinds of information regarding fares, schedules and incidents.

2. How to get to Sagrada Família by bus

Are you wondering if you can get to the Sagrada Família by bus? The answer is: yes. However, unlike the metro, the bus stops are located several meters away from the monument. So, in order to see one of Gaudi’s wonders, you will have to walk.

As we mentioned before, Barcelona is very well connected. Therefore, you have several bus lines that can drop you off around the Basilica depending on where you start from.

Below, we are going to reveal our top 3 most comfortable and useful lines to get to the Sagrada Família by bus.

D50 towards Ciutat Meridiana: València – Lepant (stop)
The best way to get to Sagrada Família from Plaça Catalunya is the D50 bus towards Ciutat Meridiana.

This bus has a stop near the temple. The stop where you should get off is called València-Lepant. Once you get off, you will have to go back a few meters and walk up Marina street until you reach the divine monument. It’s easy, don’t worry.
19 towards Sant Genís: Padilla – Mallorca (stop)

Another option, although with a longer route, is bus line 19. Like the D50, this one goes up to Sagrada Familia.

The stop where you should get off is Padilla-Mallorca. It is so called because it leaves you on Padilla street. This street is parallel to the Basilica, so if you just go to the left, you will find the Sagrada Familia a few meters away.

V21 towards Pg. Marítim: Avinguda Gaudí (stop)

Otherwise, if your location is above the Sagrada Família, the ideal route is offered by the bus line V21 in the direction of Passeig Marítim.

The V21 has a stop named after the great master Antoni Gaudí: Avinguda Gaudí. This is where you should get off.

Unlike the other bus lines, this is the only one that allows you to go along Gaudí Avenue and have a privileged view of the Sagrada Familia almost immediately. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through a pedestrian area as you make your way to an architectural marvel.

3. How to get to the Sagrada Familia by private transportation

If you prefer to go to the monument by private transport, whether by cab, Uber, Cabify, Bolt or any other, keep in mind that drivers may have difficulty dropping you off near the Sagrada Familia due to traffic issues.

Private Transportation and Tours at Sagrada Família

If you intend to take a tour of the Sagrada Família, it is very important that you know where to go. Know in depth your meeting point and give the best indications to the driver or the APP about the exact location. Remember that Sagrada Família has pedestrian streets around it, so… you will not be able to access them with transportation.

To avoid having to deal with heavy traffic and overwhelming crowds, we reveal a perfect location: the intersection between Rosselló and Lepant streets.

Benefits

Tell your driver to drop you off at Rosselló and Lepant to enjoy a unique experience. You will be able to walk along Avinguda Gaudí, a pedestrian street full of ideal restaurants and small stores, which will take you alone to Sagrada Familia. We promise you that the views are spectacular.

Make the most of your trip to Barcelona and enjoy an exclusive 10% discount for our customers at Kurz&Gut restaurant. Show them the voucher before ordering and sit on the amazing terrace overlooking the outside of the Sagrada Família. Create memories with a cold drink while you chill in the Catalan capital.
